To watch a Brooklyn Chase movie you would never get the sense she is actually a very shy and introverted girl. Her raw passion for sex comes through in every scene and has even gained her recognition and praise from her peers in the industry in the form of award nominations. A young woman from San Diego who entered porn later in than most young starlets, Brooklyn Chase has been a highly sought after talent for not only her sex appeal but her versatility to act in features as well. Not just a pretty face and a huge DD rack, Brooklyn Chase is turning heads and plans to continue to do so for a long time to come. In this interview with XRentDVD's Big D, Brooklyn Chase discusses how she balances working in porn despite living in San Diego, which performers she admires and aspires to be like within the porn industry and even though she is not even 30, why she considered herself to be an old soul.
Big D: It seems like you were pretty shy growing up. How does a shy person grow up to have a high profile career in the adult industry? How did you go from being a shy person to working in
Brooklyn Chase: I was painfully shy. I was horribly shy and horribly self-conscious. I knew that throughout life that other people had thought I was pretty. Guys gave me a lot of attention and people would
always tell me I was pretty - so I knew that other people thought I was pretty. I didn't think that I was particularly pretty and I still don't think I'm anything particularly special. I did get a
lot of attention from guys and I was quite promiscuous, because I got all that attention and I just wanted guys to like me. So when I decided that I might as well make money doing it. In the
beginning, I felt like Brooklyn was another person. She was like a whole other person, like my inner wild child coming out. As time has gone on, it's just become more comfortable. In the beginning,
it was definitely an odd thing. People that I know from high school or work or whatever are shocked, absolutely shocked at what I'm doing, because they would have never in a million years thought
I'd be doing this.
Big D: When it comes to the progression, you jumped in with two feet. This is not particularly unique to you, somebody being shy and then coming out of their shell, but normally they go through
the progression of "oh, well, I started stripping and then maybe I did a solo scene for an internet company" and then it gradually moves into girl-girl and then they do full-blown guy-girl type
porn. You skipped a few of those steps along the way. How did that happen?
Brooklyn Chase: I skipped a lot of those steps! (laughs) I had found my former agency and they had explained to me how it all works. I had never been with a girl before and that was very intimidating to
me. I had kissed a friend in high school and that was it. My very first interaction with another girl was on-camera. The thought of doing girl-girl really scared me. The thought of stripping scared
me, because I'd never done those things. I'd banged tons of guys, so that wasn't intimidating to me. I think that's why I felt more comfortable doing what I knew I could do well. Even with my first
girl-girl scene, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I was so nervous. So I think I'll stick with what I know and then I'll branch out from there.
Big D: You had said that you were working, but you were looking for other ways to make ends meet and make a little extra money for you rent, car payments, bills and etc. After getting into porn
you really liked it and have continued to grow and expand within the porn industry. How far do you see this going? Is it more or less, I'm going to continue to do this because it's fun or until
people stop booking me and then I'll stop or do you have a plan? Do you see yourself doing this for a few years and then maybe moving to bigger plans of becoming a real estate agent or opening up
your own lingerie boutique or something else?
Brooklyn Chase: When I first started, my plan was to do this until I could put myself through college and go on from there. But I really enjoy this and I have so much fun. So my plan right now is to keep
going until people are tired of seeing my face. I would love to direct some day. I like the industry, I like the people in the industry and I plan to be a part of the industry in one way or
Big D: What is it about being on camera and just being in the industry that makes you want to stick around? You keep work separate from your personal life and it's not like you've taken your
work and all the friends you've made in the adult industry home. So what is it about the industry that you fell in love with that makes you want to stay in it for as long as you can?
Brooklyn Chase: Well, besides the obvious stuff, like, who doesn't want to get paid to have sex with gorgeous people, it's just so much fun and everyone is great. In previous jobs I had co-workers and
supervisors that I couldn't stand and I have yet to experience that so far in the porn industry. Everyone has been really cool and fun to hang out with. You can be completely politically incorrect
on set and you won't offend anybody. I'm also fortunate enough that I'm able to work a fraction of the time that I use to work, which means that I have more time for my family, my friends and my
personal life. It's also afforded me opportunities financially that I would have never had. I'm living an amazing life outside of work and then when I go to work I have an absolute blast. It's
really the best of both worlds for me.
Big D: Speaking of the fact that you work a fraction of the time in the adult industry where you can choose your own hours because you are an independent contractor, how often do you choose to
work? I know you're down in San Diego and a majority of the shoots are up in the L.A. area. How often do you choose to work? Is it you go up to L.A. and you shoot for a week and then take as much
time off as you want or is it on basis of when your agent books you for shoots? How often do you shoot and do you usually turn down shoots because you just shot yesterday and you don't feel like
turning around and driving to L.A. the next day?
Brooklyn Chase: I shoot pretty much whenever I can. It is kind of limited though because I do make that drive back and forth. Even if I'm shooting three days in a row, I drive back and forth. So I try to
shoot three days a week and if I'm booked for three and something else awesome comes along, I'll do that too. I very rarely turn shoots down. I can think of maybe one that I turned down, otherwise
I will make that drive. I drive three hours each direction so I do try to limit it to no more than three a week. I do that every week, I shoot for a block and then go home because I don't stay in
L.A. I make the long trek home. Thank goodness for audiobooks.
Big D: You've also said that there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed so that makes sense that you would do that drive every day.
Brooklyn Chase: I just don't sleep well in other places. I don't sleep well in hotels and I don't like inconveniencing people by sleeping on their couches. I like to have my own bed, my own shower, my own
coffee pot and my dog. At home is where I'm happiest.
Big D: You are a bit removed geographically and you're further south from where the majority of where the porn world lives and works and a good evening out for you is more of a good evening in
with a bottle of wine and a book or a rented movie. Have you always been like that or did you get all the partying out of your system? Have you always been that chill at home type of a homebody
Brooklyn Chase: I have always been the homebody type of person. When I was 16 or 17, I use to party. Not a lot, but more than I do now. I just don't really like to drink and I don't like the feeling of
being drunk. I took one of those mental age tests that's going around on Facebook and my mental age was 55 and I'm 28. I've always kind of been like "the music is too loud and I can't stand people
bumping into me" type person. Partying isn't really my scene. When I was 15 I felt like I was 35. I'd much rather just stay home.
Big D: Somebody would probably describe you as 28 but she's kind of an old soul?
Brooklyn Chase: Yes. My boyfriend calls me a hermit because I'm perfectly happy just being at home.
Big D: Since you mentioned that you do have a boyfriend and you said earlier "who doesn't want to get paid to have sex with beautiful people", is that an issue with your boyfriend? Obviously
there's got to be some give and take here, this is your job and you can separate the emotional from the physical when it comes to your job and doing what you do. Did you have to say "hey, this is
what I do, take it or leave it and I hope you're cool with it?". Not to get too personal with the inner workings of your relationship, but most people would kind of look at that as cheating even
though they understand it's for work. How do you balance that with your life and relationship outside of porn?
Brooklyn Chase: I had just started in the industry and had only shot about two scenes when I met my boyfriend. I didn't tell him right away but by the time I realized I really liked him, I said, "Look,
this is what I do for a living and I understand if you don't want to talk to me anymore, but this is what I do.". We hadn't been together long enough for me to say I would quit for him. Luckily he
was very supportive. He loves me for who I am and loves the idea that I can be on set and do what I do and have sex with guys who he says are better looking than him and in better shape. But at the
end of the day, I come home to him. It's such a big turn on for him that he's who I want to be with and who I want to come home to. I think that's why it works. He's just extremely confident in
himself and our relationship and he can separate the work part of it.
Big D: That's great. There's not a lot of people out there that are that well adjusted.
Brooklyn Chase: Yes, he's just complete 100% confident in himself and us.
Big D: In getting into porn, you said you had only done girl-girl when it was your first scene and the only other experience with that was in high school when you had a drunk kiss with a friend.
You have since expanded to the point where before you didn't do gangbang and anal and you've since done a few scenes for Brazzers which were anal scenes. You've
also done an interracial gangbang correct?
Brooklyn Chase: Correct
Big D: Despite expanding your list to those types of sex acts you have still sworn off the whole swallowing thing and left it on the "no" list. Are there other things out there besides that that
are still off limits that you are working towards expanding and growing intio? Or is that, to use the Star Trek term, the final frontier?
Brooklyn Chase: I think that probably is the final frontier. I did those two anal scenes for Brazzers and I've kind of said that I'm not sure that I'm going to do anymore,
but I may revisit it later, but that's still on my no list for now even though I did a few. Other than that I can't think of anything else. I'm sure that there's things that I've just probably
never even heard of that I wouldn't do. But yeah, swallowing is definitely on my no list and for right now anal is on my no list Other than that, like when we're talking about a gangbang, the more
the better. Put as many guys with me as you can.
Big D: Gangbangs were a no-no for you but you have since done them and even said, "Hey load it up and line them up out the door if you can." That seems like a total 180 and the fact that you
said you weren't cool with it, but now that I've tried it, want to take it even further. What was it about the first one or the ones that you've done since that changed your attitude about
Brooklyn Chase: I've done one gangbang and then I did an interracial blow bang where there was some sex in there. I had never been with a black guy either until I was on camera and now I love doing
interracial stuff. It's also the group of guys and I think that's what a lot of it comes back to. It doesn't really matter what you are doing because if the people you're working with are cool and
you enjoy spending time with them and enjoy talking with them, it's going to be a fun experience. When I did my gangbang it was with seven awesome guys, a lot of whom I had worked with before. We
were all joking around and laughing and bullshitting on set. It makes it fun. It was also one of my fantasies to be manhandled by a bunch of guys and I like being the center of attention and being
touched. With a gangbang where there's that many hands and that many guys, you're definitely the center of attention.
Big D: When it comes to that familiarity of working with people you know and feel comfrotable with, obviously there's got to be a first time for everything because you can't just work with a few
select people. When you are working with somebody who you've never worked with before do you just play it by ear or do you guys get together and come up with a game plan or do you just have him
read off of you and take your lead? How do you normally approach working with a brand new person on set?
Brooklyn Chase: A lot of times there is a conversation discussing what you like and don't like. For me, I like to be choked. I like to have my hair pulled and I like to have my ass smacked. So I tell the
guy that I like those things because I think you can tell whether or not the people on film are into it or not and just going through the motions. A lot of times there is that conversation of "I
really like this or I don't like this", because there are some guys that really like to have their nipples played with and that turns them on. If I know that and can do that, it will be a better
scene because he'll be really into it. If he doesn't like that, if he hates that and I do it, there goes his hard-on. So we have that conversation a lot. We talk about if it's okay to use spit
instead of lube or is it okay if I put my finger in your ass. Things like that so that we're on the same page and put out the best scene we can and enjoy ourselves while we're filming the
Big D: What are some of the things that when you're having that conversation that you tell the guy to avoid in order to keep the scene on track and hot?
Brooklyn Chase: I don't particularly like having my feet touched. When my feet get touched a lot of times, I jerk away and it isn't always cute. So I tell them not to touch my feet. Sometimes it's just
depending on what kind of day I'm having. I'll like anal or having a finger in my ass or sometimes I don't want that at all. It just kind of depends on my mood for the day. I'll let them know don't
go anywhere near my ass or not depending on the day. With some guys, you'll really get into the scene and I've left with bruises from having my ass smacked so hard or having my breast grabbed so
hard. So I'll say I like this but keep in mind that I have to shoot tomorrow too so don't mark me up. That's really all that's on my no list. Just stay away from my feet and don't make me leave
looking like a leopard.
Big D: You mentioned the feet thing and I'm assuming you've maybe been asked to possibly do foot fetish type stuff. Because of that aversion, have you've chosen not to or have you not even been
approached to do foot fetish type porn? Foot fetish is a pretty popular fetish. Has that topic been a problem or has it even been approached with you?
Brooklyn Chase: I have done some foot stuff. I don't mind touching my own feet and I've actually gotten over the foot thing a lot because I've realized how big of a thing foot fetish is. It's not nearly as
bad as it use to be. I've done a foot job and I've done a lot of solo foot fetish and that's fine because I don't mind touching my own feet. I'm very ticklish. Super ticklish. Sometimes the
littlest touch freaks me out pretty bad.
Big D: Seeing how you've been in porn for about a year and a half now and we've already covered that you didn't take the normal path, you got in at age 26. When it came to working before porn
what were some of the things you enjoyed before you made the leap? I know you said before you sometimes would have some bosses that were jerks, but was there any work experiences out there that you
enjoyed before porn that you might go back to after your career is done?
Brooklyn Chase: Before I was in porn, I managed a retail pharmacy so I had a staff of 17 that directly reported to me. I ran a store and a pharmacy and helped customers and I really enjoyed that. I like
working with people which is why I think I would do something in customer service or maybe nursing if I ever get out. I enjoy working with people, working closely with people, I enjoy customers and
I actually really enjoyed retail which a lot of people don't and that's all I had ever really done. I was in retail for 11 years. I enjoyed a lot of the aspects of being in a management role and
just like in any job, there's things you don't want to do or days you don't want to work. During the holidays, retail is not a fun time to work. I enjoyed retail but I don't know that I ever really
want to go back to it now.
Big D: Do you envision starting your own business or doing something else when you're out of the porn business? I think of that commercial where they asked 100 people what would you do if
somebody paid you to do something that you could love and that it's supposed to be well that's what retirement is for. You're supposed to be saving to basically pay yourself to do what you love
once you retire. But what would you like to do when you are out of porn if you've got enough money already saved? Would you want to start your own business, go traveling or something else?
Brooklyn Chase: I really think that I would enjoy nursing. I think I would also like to just sit at home and craft all day because I like crafting and baking. I like do it yourself projects so I would love
to just sit at home and make stuff all day long. I think nursing would probably be good or maybe even an elementary school teacher. They wouldn't hire me obviously, but if I could somehow fly under
the radar and be a kindergarten teacher, that would be great.
Big D: Maybe we should call up Brazzers and do a Big Tits at Work nurse scene for you. Speaking of that, you got breast augmentation surgery when you were 19.
How does a girl that is admittedly shy, want to get bigger boobs to have people pay more attention to her?
Brooklyn Chase: When I was 19 I was in a relationship with somebody that wasn't very nice to me. In my brain I thought that maybe if I got bigger boobs I'd be sexier to him and he would be nicer to me. You
know, because 19 year olds are so smart and we have all the answers when we're 19. So that was my thought process and I was always very self conscious. I thought maybe if I had bigger boobs,
because I have big 38 inch hips, that I would feel better about myself and maybe he would think that I was better looking and wouldn't pay so much attention to other girls. Eventually I'll need to
get these redone and I just take them out but I can't even remember what it was like to not have big boobs. They're a part of me now.
Big D: It's probably helped you a little bit for your career because you are small. You are a petite gal at 5'2” but you've got these DD breast. Do you think that has helped you break through
and become a little more popular in the adult industry or does it help you get more jobs for the busty titles that happen to be shooting for New Sensations or other
Brooklyn Chase: There are girls that are huge stars that don't have big breast. I was on set the other day and crossed paths with Riley Reid who doesn't have huge boos and she
has a huge career. I think it just means that I'm on the list for all the Big Tits at Work and the Big Tit Boss and all those kinds
of things. I like to think that if I didn't have big boobs I would still be as popular or close to it as I am. I guess it's kind of a niche that I fill. I don't think it's really made me more
popular than I would have been otherwise.
Big D: Speaking of working with girls that have been pretty big in the industry, is it intimidating working with gals like Riley Reid or Remy
LaCroix or any of the other ones that have a lot of recognition and are sort of the gold standard within the industry? Is it a little bit intimidating walking on set and they have this big
notoriety but you guys are working in a scene together and you guys are equals? Or is it "Hey we're cool with each other because we work with each other and she's just another gal."?
Brooklyn Chase: I am intimidated by those girls. I've always been. Even now I'm more nervous on a girl-girl shoot than a boy-girl shoot. I think the most intimidated I've been was when I did an interracial
orgy recently and Phoenix Marie was on set. To me she's just so huge to me. Girls like Phoenix Marie and Chanel
Preston, who I also did a scene with, just intimidate the crap out of me, but they were amazingly sweet. But yeah, I definitely get intimidated working with girls in general but especially
working with girls that have been around longer than I have and have done a lot more scenes and have bigger fan bases. I just hope that I can do it right and match their performance.
Big D: What is it about them that makes it intimidating? You say that once you get on set they are super nice. It's not like they're bitchy or make you feel inferior to them. What is it that
seems intimidating about them if they turn out to be really nice and cool people?
Brooklyn Chase: When a girl gets dressed, she doesn't get dressed for guys. She gets dressed for other girls. You are always comparing yourself to other girls. I see girls like Chanel who's hosting the AVN
Show in 2014 and I would love to be big enough to do something like that. I just want to do my best and be like those girls, which I guess is the best way to say it. So I'm intimidated because I
want to be there someday. I want to be like her. I want to have as many fans as she does and be as popular as she is and get the roles she does. You get worried about doing your best and giving
them good sex. There are also guys that are bigger names that I think I would be intimidated by as well. I've never worked with James Deen but I think it would be
intimidating to work with him because he's a big name and has some mainstream fans. In general it's just intimidating to work with people who are much bigger names than you are.
Big D: I don't know if you know this about James Deen or not, but he's tremendously shy in person. He was nominated and won the AVN Award for Best Male Newcomer he
was so shy and intimidated about getting up on stage and saying thank you that he didn't even show up to the awards show. He was that freaked out by it all. I read somewhere that he went to the
awards and the pre-party and did all the red carpet type stuff and then started to feel anxiety from all the people patting him on the back and saying he was going to win. He called Joanna Angel and said he couldn't do it and that he was going back to his hotel room.
Brooklyn Chase: Right?!? When I presented at the Sex Awards, I was afraid I wouldn't make it onto the stage. I had a really big glass of wine beforehand because I was sure I would trip and fall or stumble
over my words and I would mess it up so badly because it is really intimidating. It wasn't a huge audience this year at the Sex Awards so I can't even imagine being up on stage to do something at
the AVN Awards. I can understand why he was so freaked out by it. Big D: Speaking of the AVNs, you were nominated for best group sex scene for Madison's Mad Circus. Is getting awards or recognition or even nominations
within the industry something that's important to you or is it really not a big deal? Some people that I've talked to feel that it really validates their career and it's something they really
strive for and when they walk on set, really have their mind on making that a nominated scene. Other people believe it's great to be nominated but it is not a big deal if they win or lose. They
just want to put out some good content that people can stroke to. How do you feel about awards?
Brooklyn Chase: I think I'm more of an "if it comes, it comes" type of person. I don't walk on set and say, "Okay this is it! I'm going to win for this scene!" At the same time I was bummed when the
nominations came out and I didn't get nominated for best boobs or something. For the Madison's Mad Circus I really am excited that that scene was nominated
because it was such a blast, I got to ride an elephant and I got to work with Kendra Lust who's my huge girl crush. It was a fun scene. I had really great chemistry
with Ryan Madison and it was just fun all around. I'm not going to be heartbroken though if we don't win because I just think it's really an honor to just be nominated.
I would feel the same way if I was up for an individual award. Just the thought of all the girls in the industry that could have been nominated and I was would be enough for me. I don't walk out on
set and say I'm going to make sure I win an award for this one. No matter what, I'm going to try and put out the best thing that I possibly can on every scene that I do.
Big D: What is it that's out there that you have still yet to do? Are there other things out there that you would like a little bit more challenging for yourself that you'd like to explore?
Brooklyn Chase: Lately, in the last few months, I've done and been apart of more Features with more in-depth scripts. When I first got into porn I remember being so
nervous during my first scene and saying "I'm not an actress. I'm going to screw this up." They were telling me, "It's not a big deal. It's porn. Don't worry. This isn't the Oscars." Now though I
so enjoy getting a script and studying my lines and doing the acting part of it and because that feature film Candy Striper was so much fun. Jonathon Morgan talked a little bit about it on Twitter but I just did another movie for him (Odd Jobs) in which I starred in. I was
the main girl which is so much fun. I was in Grease XXX: A Parody which was great. I really enjoy the features. I'd love to do more lead roles and I'd love to
do a lead role in a Porn Parody where I can be a superhero. So yeah, I love doing the acting and the script and so I would really want to do more lead roles.
In Grease and Candy Striper, I loved how it was done with the different camera angles. Doing it once and then saying it again and then shooting voice overs is just so much fun to me. I would really
like to do as many features as I possibly can.
Big D: Speaking of challenging yourself, you are going to be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo. Is it surreal to be 28 years old and have
people come up to you and say they're your biggest fan? Is it flattering or is it kind of creepy for you?
Brooklyn Chase: It's flattering, but it's extremely surreal, especially when I have fans on Twitter who are planning on coming out to AEE just to meet me. That just baffles me. The fact that people are
going to take time out of their busy lives just to come and see me is something I can't even wrap my head around. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would even start or have a
sentenced that included 'my fans'. It never crossed my mind. It's very surreal but I am so excited because I don't know if people have recognized me but I've never had anyone come up to me and say,
"Oh my gosh! Are you Brooklyn Chase?". So I'm really excited to interact with people and for people to know who I am. I'm so excited that I've been practicing my signature for autographs.
Big D: I've done probably 100 interviews with a number of different Porn Stars from big names like Jesse Jane or Tera Patrick to a girl
that's fresh off the bus and has only shot two scenes. It's funny in the fact that some of them say they always rememberthe first time they were recognized in public. Most of them would say it was
usually at the baggage carousel at the airport. They always say they never forget where they were recognized for being in porn out in the general public. Have you had that experience yet?
Brooklyn Chase: Nope. Never happened. I've never had that experience.
Big D: How do you think you'll react to being recognized while out in public or is it hard to predict until it actually happens?
Brooklyn Chase: I'm not really sure. I think I will probably turn red and be really embarrassed and really shy. I don't think I'm going to be like, "Woohoo!" or anything like that. I think I'm going to be
really embarrassed and probably drop something or trip over my own feet. It'll also probably depend, because I used to never leave the house without makeup. I used to always look cute and now it's
kind of like your lucky if I change out of my pajamas and put on regular clothes. I rarely wear make-up. It'll probably depend on how cute I look and if I have no make-up on and my hair up in a
ponytail and some sweats on. Then I'll probably just wave and walk away as fast as I can. But if I look cute I'll probably have a different reaction. I can see though how that will be something I
Big D: First job?
Brooklyn Chase: Bagging groceries when I was in high school
Big D: First concert?
Brooklyn Chase: 'nSYNC in 8th grade. It was me and two friends and one of my friend's mom took us. We were totally obsessed with 'nSYNC.
Big D: First car?
Brooklyn Chase: 1989 Toyota Tercel.
Big D: What's in your MP3 player right now?

Big D: Favorite food?
Brooklyn Chase: Spaghetti.
Big D: Favorite position?
Brooklyn Chase: Doggy

Big D: What is a modern convenience that you cannot live without?
Brooklyn Chase: Besides my cell phone? My Hitachi [Magic Wand].

Big D: Who is a person you would like to meet but have not yet met?
Brooklyn Chase: Justin Timberlake. I love him.
Big D: Place you would like to visit but have yet to go there?
